Hi again!
Every now and then, you’ll hear someone tell you carrots are good for your eyesight. Is it an old wives’ tale, or is there really something in it? Well, we’re here to tell you there is some truth behind the myth.
After reading this, we hope you’ll be more informed as to why carrots truly do make a difference to your vision.
Carrots are rich in vitamin A, a nutrient which is important for our bodies. Vitamin A is vital to help strengthen your immune system and help improve vision in dim light. If your body is starved of vitamin A for a long period of time, the cornea could become dry, causing clouding to the front of the eye, which could eventually lead to vision loss.
It’s estimated about 250,000 children become blind every year because of vitamin A deficiency.
So, how many portions of carrots should we eat every day? Well, studies have proved the night vision, and the reaction to darkness improved in pregnant women who ate 4.5oz of cooked carrots six days a week.
If you think your condition calls for it, eat your carrots. Whatever you think, consider other nourishing foods to enhance your overall health.
